According to Media Create, Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 4 sold 18,000 units across Japan in the week ending July 6, bringing its life to date sales in Japan to 585,000 units. It’s the DS title, Daigasso! Band Brothers DX which takes the top spot, followed by PS3 new release, Initial D Extreme Stage from SEGA.
Derby Stallion for DS falls to No.3, followed by Wii Fit at No.4 and Nanashi no Game from Square Enix at No.5.
The continued fall in sales of Metal Gear Solid 4 appears to have a direct correlation with the sales of the PlayStation 3 which is down by 3,000 units over last week to 14,525.
It’s the PSP which continues to lead the way with weekly sales of 56,439, followed by the Nintendo duo of DS (47,455) and Wii (44,525). The PS3’s 14,359 is enough to claim fourth place, ahead of the PS2 (11,768) and Xbox 360 (4,776).
Although still very low in comparison to the competition, the Xbox 360 does appear to have gained some momentum in recent weeks, having approximately doubled its weekly sales.
