Konami has today announced that the Metal Gear Solid 4 Database will be released on the European PlayStation Store on June 26, one week later than it appeared on the US and Japanese stores.

The free download has been designed to compliment the long-running Metal Gear Solid series and provides a comprehensive archive detailing characters, weapons and plot elements from 1987’s original Metal Gear title right through to MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.

The database allows users to search via three central hubs: GENE (a glossary), MEME (which maps the relationships between characters in the series), and SCENE (a timeline for the series).

Users are able to jump from page to page using keywords, with all relevant info appearing instantly. In order to access any info relating to MGS4 you’ll need to have completed the game (a save file on the PS3 is checked) so to avoid having the final adventure spoiled.
