ORIGINAL REPORT: The first gameplay footage of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’s multiplayer mode will be revealed at 11am BST this Thursday, August 21.

The footage will feature in a new 25-minute demo hosted by IGN, which is also said to include a look at the game’s day-night cycle and cardboard box mechanic previously shown at last week’s Gamescom.

IGN promises that the video will run at 1080p/60fps, although it isn’t known which platform the footage is taken from.

Development on Metal Gear Solid 5’s multiplayer is being led out of new studio Kojima Productions Los Angeles and, according to earlier comments from Kojima, is aiming to have a broader appeal than Japan-focussed Metal Gear Online.

A release date for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has yet to be announced.
