Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain sold over three times as many copies on PS4 during its first week on sale than Xbox One, according to figures released by GfK Chart Track.
72% of all physical copies sold were on PS4, Chart Track reports, with Xbox One managing just 22%. PS3, meanwhile, accounted for 3% with Xbox 360 taking just 2%.
The game’s strong week one sales were also enough to make it the fastest-selling title in the series, beating opening week sales of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty by approximately 37%.
The Phantom Pain entered this week’s charts at No 1. It still didn’t sell as many copies during its opening week as Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3, however, which continue to be the fastest-selling games of 2015.
Total sales figures for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain have yet to be released.
