Free-to-play MMO MechWarrior Online will be coming to PC in the second half of 2012, it has been revealed.

The game will be the first sizeable entry in the MechWarrior series since its last major release ten years ago.

Users will be able to join or create a Mercenary Corp, join up with one of five factions, and then fight to control planets in the Inner Sphere. The MMO’s developer Piranha Games has promised VS and Conquests modes, as well as character customisation tools, Eurogamer reports.

Piranha Games previously worked on the console versions of Duke Nukem Forever and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 on PSP.
