Developer Pirahana Games has announced that mech action game MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will arrive on PlayStation consoles later this month.
It’ll mark the first time a MechWarrior game has appeared on a PlayStation console since 1995’s MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat. The game takes place in 3015 where MechWarriors duke it out on the battlefield. You’re the leader of a mercenary company of these MechWarriors, and must take your team on a series of missions.
The game features a singleplayer PvE campaign where you’ll get to control a squad of AI controller mercenaries. Alternatively, you can team up with up to three other players in 4-person co-op. The game will also include all of the updates and content added to the PC version including its Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.
Some PlayStation specific features include support for advanced haptics and the adaptive triggers of the PS5’s DualSense. There’s also the ability for you to switch direct control between any of your AI BattleMechs during a mission. Also included are extra weather visual effects, updates to the HUD and a new campaign story introduction.
You can check out the original trailer for the game below. MechWarriors 5: Mercenaries lands on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on September 23.
