The game opens with the space colonists’ battle for independence from The Earth Federation. With the advancement of ECM (Electronic Countermeasures), range sensors and communications have been rendered useless, giving rise to the mobile suit. The mobile suit is an instrument of destruction, and have redefined modern warfare.
“With dramatic cockpit views and exquisitely detailed mobile suits, we fully expect ‘Mobile Ops’ to immerse gamers into a futuristic world where giant mechas loom against a war-torn horizon,” said Yoshi Niki, business director at Namco Bandai Games America Inc. “As desperate battles ensue in both open battlefields and urban environments, players can choose to engage enemies on foot, in vehicles or in mobile suits.“
Mobile Ops: The One Year War will feature a fully fledged online mode, putting players in control of their own mobile fighter, taking part in team battles across multiple battlefields and scenarios. Mobile suits are also customisable, with an array of weapons ready for selection.
The first shots of the game look promising, if a little too much like top end current-gen, but there is still plenty of time before the game’s scheduled release this winter.
