Following the release of two new Max Payne 3 screens, a preview from Edge magazine has shed new info on the delayed action sequel.

The preview shows two versions of Max, one where he has a full head of hair and another where he looks decidedly bulkier and bald. This is because the story will move back and forth in time, with Max popping up in New York and Brazil.

Max Payne voice actor James McCafferty will return to the lead role, only this time in a full acting role – think Uncharted or Heavy Rain style full body mocap.

The task of bringing back Max is no small task with Rockstar spreading the load between Vancouver, London, Toronto and New England.

The comic book styling of the first games returns, but instead of comic book frames dramatic plot elements are told using the in-game engine and an animated collage of action – described as being similar to 24.

There’s loads more info inside the pages of Edge, but the article doesn’t feature a release date, instead stating a “done when it’s done” approach to development.
