By way of official Microsoft blog Gamerscoreblog.com the platform holder has cleared up rumours surrounding Mass Effect. The BioWare developed Xbox 360 exclusive RGP is 100% still on track for release worldwide, starting November 20.

What isn’t so clear is what will happen with the series in the future. While BioWare originally announced that it planned to create a trilogy of titles, EA now owns the IP, meaning the original plan will likely change. According to John Porcaro, Senior Group Manager, Online Community and Communications for Microsoft, what happens in the future is up to EA.

Since neither BioWare nor Microsoft have made any announcements about sequels or publishing deals, we aren’t ready to say anything more about the future of the franchise, but you can be sure we’ll be discussing a lot of things with BioWare (and EA) in the weeks to come,” said Porcaro. “For now, any further news will have to come from EA or BioWare.”

We’ll bring you more on the future of Mass Effect as we hear it.
