Mass Effect 3’s upcoming E3 demo promises to be the company’s best, according to developer BioWare, but was also its most challenging to produce.
“I’d say developing our [Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic] E3 demo was “casual” difficulty and the ME1 and ME2 ones were “normal”. This E3 [demo for Mass Effect 3] feels like “insanity”,” said Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson on Twitter.
Meanwhile, gameplay designer Christina Norman said she “saw the basically final mass effect 3 e3 demo today…wow. No doubt in my mind our best demo, and our best game, ever.”
The game promises to be harder for players, too. Last month VideoGamer.com reported that Mass Effect 3 is to be harder than Mass Effect 2 – with Hudson saying “Normal is the new Veteran” difficulty.
Mass Effect 1 and 2 have had five difficulty settings – Casual, Normal, Veteran, Hardcore, and Insanity.
Last week EA announced it would be showing Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 live at EA’s E3 press conference.
Previous stories have also revealed that Mass Effect 3 is focusing on smaller squads.
“We’re focused on a smaller squad with deeper relationships and more interesting interplay in Mass Effect 3,” said Hudson.
Mass Effect 3 is scheduled to be released for 360, PS3, and PC early 2012.
