Capcom has announced that the highly requested fighting game, Marvel VS Capcom 2 will be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer via digital distribution.
Marvel VS Capcom 2 features the biggest roster of challengers to ever square off in a Capcom fighting game, a total of 56 combined brawlers from both the Capcom and Marvel universes. From the world of Capcom comes characters such as Ryu from the Street Fighter series, Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil games and unofficial company mascot Mega Man. The Marvel roster is represented by some of its biggest names, including the Invincible Iron Man, Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty, and War Machine, Weapon of S.H.I.E.L.D.
While the game hasn’t been given the same HD treatment of the wonderful Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, it will boast the same solid online experience allowing players to go head-to-head over PSN or Xbox LIVE. New online modes include Ranked Matches and the popular Quarter Match that allows up to four people to watch and chat while two others are battling it out.
Additionally, Capcom has added an optional advanced visual filter which promises to improve the overall appearance of the game.
Marvel VS Capcom 2 is scheduled for release this summer on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network. The game will be priced 1200 MS Points/£11.99. As an added bonus for PS3 owners, a playable demo will go live this week on the US PSN – the demo will arrive on the European Store shortly afterwards.
