Team Ninja is developing the next instalment in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance exclusively for Nintendo Switch, the company announced at The Game Awards in the early hours of this morning.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 features an original story that sees superheroes and villains alike battling for the power of the Infinity Gauntlet, with purple baddie Thanos leading a group known as The Black Order.

We're promised 'dozens' of playable characters from the Marvel superhero universe, including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and X-Men. In addition to featuring the same action-RPG gameplay that players will have come to expect, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 also allows co-op battles for up to four players.

Also new to the table is a 'dynamic, zoomed-in heroic' perspective, which Team Ninja says will offer a more immersive gameplay experience when playing on multiple systems.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is due out for the Switch in 2019, and unsurprisingly will be published by Nintendo.
