Marvel Rivals is arguably one of the best multiplayer games available at the moment, yet its player count keeps dropping. NetEase has done a fantastic job with all the seasonal updates, yet to no avail. The launch of Season 3 reached a peak of only 163,232 players, nearly two times less than the launch of Season 2.

The situation isn’t great for NetEase but it’s far from awful. Let’s take a deeper look at the numbers and see how many players have played Marvel Rivals since its release in December 2024.

Marvel Rivals player count is far from impressive in mid-2025

Marvel Rivals had a huge launch in December last year, reaching a peak of nearly half a million concurrent players on Steam. This number kept going up, peaking at 644,269 in January 2025, which is the all-time peak for the game. Since then, the player count has kept decreasing, as Season 3 only has a quarter of the players Season 1 had.

Here is a detailed look at the Marvel Rivals player count, accurate as of July 23:

After peaking in January, the player count kept declining until the release of Emma Frost and Season 2. Unfortunately, this was just a temporary fix, as more and more players kept leaving the game in the following months.

It’s important to note that this number only reflects players on Steam. Console players and PC players who play the game through the Epic Games Launcher are excluded from this player count. Despite this, the situation on other platforms should be more or less the same.

With Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 dropping in early August, it will be interesting to see if the player count will recover. The new season will bring Blade, another Duelist, a new ranked mode, and lots of other content. The only question is: Will this be enough to restore Marvel Rivals to its former glory?
