In Marvel Rivals players are always devising strategies to conquer the vast array of heroes, each boasting distinct abilities that can dramatically shift the momentum in team-centric skirmishes. The game has now evolved into a fierce arena where mastering and countering character abilities is crucial for achieving victory.
Mantis’s Spore Slumber has stirred quite the debate among players, frequently labeled as an overpowered ability. Its ability to immobilize and stun opponents can swing the tide of battle, providing teams with a substantial edge in those pivotal moments of gameplay.
After extensive testing and collaboration within the community, players seem to have found a solid counter to Mantis’s Spore Slumber, which could very well alter the game’s meta. Here’s how it works.

Marvel Rivals players reveal how teammates can break the Mantis Spore Slumber effect
Marvel Rivals players on Reddit have shared their discoveries of how any player can break Mantis’s Spore Slumber ability effect from their teammate. The player wrote, “Today on stuff I learned just now: you can shoot Mantis’ purple ghost to wake up your teammates. It only has 100 HP.”
The Spore Slumber ability from Mantis sedates the nearest enemy when a spore is thrown at them. The sedation duration is 3.5 seconds and also deals 10 damage to enemies. Furthermore, a Mantis illusion will manifest beside the sedated heroes. This ability when thrown at you can be quite frustrating and the enemy team can easily eliminate you.
However, with the discovered counter, allies can attack this illusion to awaken the affected hero in a Marvel Rivals match. Just shoot at the purple ghost illusion to wake up your teammate which will quickly allow them to return to the battlefield.
While the counter to this ability is also mentioned on the official Hero abilities page on the Marvel Rivals website, it’s quite easy to overlook during gameplay if you don’t play as Mantis or haven’t figured it out yet.
