As Marvel Rivals nears the end of its first season, anticipation for Season 2 grows, with leaks pointing to a dramatic expansion of the popular hero shooter. According to datamined sources, the upcoming season will arrive on April 11, 2025, with new heroes, maps, and gameplay surprises to keep players hooked.

NetEase Games has kept things under wraps, but the game’s devoted community has discovered enticing hints about what’s next for the in-game battlegrounds. Season 1 introduced the Fantastic Four and a vampire-themed storyline, and Season 2 appears to be shifting focus to the X-Men, driven by rumors of a Hellfire Gala storyline. According to leaked information, Blade, the vampire-slaying Daywalker, is a potential arrival, following an in-game hint in Season 1.5.

Other reported heroes include mutants like Emma Frost, who has telepathic and diamond-form abilities, and Jean Grey, who might add telekinetic flair to the team. These leaks, unearthed from game files and shared across platforms, point to a mutant-heavy season that might shake up the meta. Meanwhile, dataminers have piqued interest with rumors of a new map linked to Krakoa, the famed mutant island where a new mechanic can change gameplay drastically.

Marvel Rivals’ upcoming Krakoa map will introduce teleportation mechanics in matches

According to popular leaker X0X_Leak, Marvel Rivals Season 2 will introduce a new Krakoa map, which will include portals that players can use in between matches. As per the leak, portals may have cooldown periods in between usage after closing and may indicate when players are coming before teleportation, as per audio cues and warning visuals found in the game code.

Further leaks have also revealed that portals may need to be claimed by either team before use or given ownership to them based on who owns the capture point and will need to be “channeled before use”. There are also going to be tutorials and tips that will appear on the screen when a portal is inactive or on cooldown.

As per previous leaks, Krakoa is said to be a multi-control map where players will need to capture multiple points rather than a single point in current Domination gameplay. In the comics, Krakoa is a sentient living island that was a safe haven for mutants on Earth but was attacked during the third Hellfire Gala, thus strongly suggesting the rumored theme to be arriving in the next Rivals season.

Leaks also suggest that these portals will function similarly to the ones found in Doom Match game mode. “They should open and close based on player distance, assuming it’s like portals in Sanctum closing when too far for performance reasons”, leaks revealed.

But it’s not just Krakoa that is going to be the only map that will come to Marvel Rivals in Season 2. Leaks are also suggesting another map, Arakko, that will arrive at some point later and will be an Escort map with Convoy/Convergence missions taking place in the battlefield.
