The next Marvel Rivals season is set to be released on Friday, July 11. The season will add Phoenix, a new Duelist, alongside lots of other content. While many players are excited for a new Battle Pass, which brings 10 amazing skins, NetEase will also release several quality-of-life changes with the upcoming season. One of these changes will positively impact console players.
As previously leaked, the update size for Marvel Rivals Season 3 won’t be too drastic. However, this might be different for players on PlayStation and Xbox, as the upcoming season will bring a welcome change.
The upcoming Marvel Rivals season will reduce the game size
The next Marvel Rivals season will reduce the game size on consoles, NetEase revealed. Starting Friday, the size will be different on PlayStation and Xbox, although this might result in a larger Season 3 update. The game developer reorganized client files on consoles, which will contribute to a smaller size.
When Marvel Rivals just came out, it was under 50 GB after installation on consoles. Now, just half a year later, the game has grown to nearly 70 GB. Considering that each season brings new cosmetics, new heroes, and new maps, reducing the file size is definitely a welcome change, especially for those who are low on space.
At the moment, it’s difficult to determine exactly how much space console players will save. We’ll need to wait until the update is released to get a clearer picture. Season 3 may have a larger initial download size on PlayStation and Xbox due to file reorganization, but this change is designed to reduce the game’s overall footprint.
Another great thing is that future patches will also be smaller, meaning quicker downloads and less storage required over time. In short, Marvel Rivals will take up less space going forward.
