Marvel Rivals has taken the hero shooter genre by storm, gaining millions of players in its first year. According to NetEase, game developers, this was a warm-up phase. In a recent statement, the game’s executive producer, Danny Koo, revealed that 2025 was just the beginning, teasing much more content coming next year.

Throughout 2025, NetEase added 12 new heroes, many free skins, and numerous game modes. Now, the development team is gearing up for an even bigger year, which will kick off with the addition of Deadpool, a fan-favorite hero.

Marvel Rivals to get even more content in 2026

Despite a year packed with new heroes, maps, and events, the team behind Marvel Rivals sees the past 12 months as a foundation for something bigger. The game is far from its peak, which is easily concluded after Dany Koo’s recent interview with Den of Geek.

“2025 was more of a warm-up period for us,” Koo revealed. “Next year, we’re going to have bigger plans. We’re not going to slow down. We’ve already planned more than a year ahead and I can’t wait for our players to see it.”

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see what these “bigger plans” look like. We are just a few weeks away from Season 6, which will bring Deadpool. The fan-favorite character will come out in mid-January 2026, followed by Elsa Bloodstone.

Considering that Marvel has hundreds, if not thousands, of popular characters, NetEase can easily expand the hero roster. Initially, the game developer planned to add a new hero every month and a half. However, the plan is now to bring a new character every month, so we expect 12 more heroes throughout 2026, and hopefully, most of them will be Vanguards and Strategists.
