Nintendo has announced that three more characters will be joining the ranks of Mario Tennis Aces early next year.

Boom Boom, Luma, and Pauline will all grab their rackets and take to the court for those who take part in Mario Tennis Aces' online tournaments. From the look of things, Luma is joining the game in January, followed by Boom Boom and Pauline in February and March, respectively.

Remember Boom Boom? He was one of the sub-bosses introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3, and you had to stomp on his head three times to defeat him. Luma meanwhile was introduced in Super Mario Galaxy as one of the many beings watched over by Rosalina, while Pauline's origins can be traced all the way back to Donkey Kong in 1981.

Mario Tennis Aces launched exclusively on Nintendo Switch in June, and VideoGamer freelancer Adam Cook thought it was a decent sports romp despite Adventure mode proving frustrating.
