A Super Mario Maker update scheduled for release on November 5 will introduce the ability for creators to add mid-level checkpoints to courses, Nintendo has announced.

Users will have the option to add up to two flags to their courses, allowing players to resume from the furthest checkpoint passed if they lose a life. Existing course creations can be edited to include the new checkpoints.

Other new course creation features include inserting power-ups that are dependent on Mario’s status.

The other major update is the introduction of Event Courses to the game’s Course World online hub. Event Courses will feature levels from partner creators outside Nintendo, with the first being “Ship Love” which come from the Facebook hosted Hackathon event.

Look out for regular new Event Courses as well as new Official Makers courses featuring specially selected courses and those created by Nintendo.
