Mario, Luigi and Toad have all appeared as Rabbids in a new promotional video for Ubisoft.

As spotted by NeoGAF, the Nintendo characters are positioned prominently in a video celebrating Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary, although there’s no official explanation as to why. It does, however, seem likely to be linked to a rumour claiming that Ubisoft is developing a Mario/Rabbids RPG crossover for Nintendo Switch.

Earlier this month, Let’s Play Video Games reported that a “new Ubisoft-developed turn based RPG” currently under the codename “Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids” is due to release alongside Nintendo Switch in March.

The game will allegedly “focus on the Mario universe being invaded by Ubisoft’s Rabbids characters, some friend and some foe, and will feature a new Bowser form based around the design of the Rabbids as a recurring boss enemy”.

Neither Ubisoft or Nintendo have yet to officially announce the title.
