Mario is a Jack of all trades. Not only a humble princess saving plumber, he’s tried his hand at a vast array of sports. Not content with golf, tennis, football and cart racing, the Italian plumber has decided to take a swing at Mario Baseball. Nintendo has today confirmed that the game will be released across Europe on November 11th.

The game features themed stadiums and over 30 characters from the Mario franchise, including Wario, Donkey Kong and Bowser. As you’d expect, this is no normal baseball game and features an array of game modes to keep you busy. You have the customary Exhibition mode where you can take part in standard matches with up to four players, Challenge mode sees players take part in a series of mini-games to unlock new characters, Toy Field Mode has up to four players gaining points from hits and coins in mini-games, and Mini-Game Mode, as it suggests, is a mode where you play mini-games.

Mario Baseball sounds fun, but its success in the UK where baseball is a minority sport may well be down to how desperate GameCube owners are for a new game. We will see if Mario strikes out or hits a home run on November 11th.
