Lord of the Rings Online will be supported for many years to come, developer Turbine has assured players worried the free-to-play MMO may be in trouble.
“I just wanted to drop in and address the concerns surrounding the license, again,” wrote community manager Rick Heaton on the game’s forums. “We have said as far back as July of 2013, we plan to support LOTRO for many years to come.
“I really want to be as clear as possible on this subject to avoid any further confusion or misunderstanding. The license was renewed.”
Clarifying further, Heaton said Turbine has secured the license until the end of 2017.
It remains unclear if Turbine will produce new content, in the shape of dungeons and raids, for the game.
