Microsoft’s plans for its new cross platform Live service became a little clearer yesterday with the release of the new trailer for Shadowrun. At the end of the trailer it is revealed that cross platform play (Xbox 360 and PC gamers playing together) will require a Gold Live account for Xbox 360 and PC gamers.
“Cross platform play requires Xbox Live Gold account and hard drive (on Xbox 360), or Games for Windows – Live Gold account (on Windows),” states the trailer.
At DICE last month, Microsoft’s Shane Kim told 1UP: “Not all customers have to pay for Xbox Live on Xbox 360 [Silver and Gold], in the same way you’re going to have a similar approach when we bring Live over to Windows.“
Full details of Microsoft’s Live service for PC gamers are expected to be announced soon.
