Zeekerss, the solo developer working on Lethal Company, has become addicted to spiritual successor REPO. With fans waiting around four months for the game’s next update, the game’s developer has been hit with a wave of inspiration and work on a V70 update has now started.

In the weeks since REPO’s launch, the Lethal Company developer has already played over “30 hours” of the new game. (Yeah, I’m sure some of you have over 100 hours already—silence, please.) After playing the game for tens of hours, the developer is ready to jump back into his own game’s development.

Lethal Company V70 is now in development

In a blog post on Patreon, the solo game developer told fans that “playing REPO has also inspired me to switch back to Lethal Company”, announcing that they’ve “begun work on V70”. After spending months working on new game Welcome to the Dark Place, the developer explained that the new title has been “taxing to work on”, and REPO’s fun gameplay has inspired them to spend a little bit of time returning to their OG release.

“For the past couple of weeks, REPO has been the game for me and my friends to play non-stop,” the developer said. “I was the most excited to try it at first, but my first impressions almost made me abandon it. I’m glad I gave it a second try, because REPO’s ‘fun curve’ was a little more gradual than I expected it would be, and I’m still loving this game after 30 hours spent!”

The Lethal Company developer explains that some of the enemy designs are “hysterical” and “beautiful to behold” with their favourite being Mr. Thunder Thighs. The game’s mixture of monster designs, slapstick humour, clever map design and more is not only makes the game great to play over and over again, but also fun to bring in new players to your group all the time.

“The pacing feels just right to build suspense and let the game breathe,” the developer said while picking apart all he likes and dislikes about the game. At the end of the day, the new spiritual successor to his own game has made him eager to go back, and it seems like a huge update is now in the works.

“I wrote up a document outlining my basic vision for Lethal Company, leading to early access, and my energy level is suddenly very high,” the developer said. “Again, I don’t know if that’s seasonal or if it’s because I switched projects. It will be a little while, though.”
