Warner Bros. is developing a LEGO toys-to-life game due for release later this year, an industry source familiar with the project has told VideoGamer.com.

The title, which is expected to be in development at Traveller’s Tales, will be a direct competitor to Activision’s Skylanders and Disney’s Disney Infinity, and launch alongside a range of compatible LEGO figures.

Warner Bros. declined to comment when contacted about the story.

However, when asked about the possibility of developing a LEGO toys-to-life title by VideoGamer.com earlier this month, Traveller’s Tales’ associate producer Tim Wileman revealed that the studio was “always trying to push the boundaries” of what it can achieve with the franchise, before telling fans to “watch this space”.

“I don’t want to focus too much on the other games at the moment,” he said, “but what I will say is, like I say, we’re always looking to push the boundaries on these games in terms of the scope and the potential and we’re ambitious in that respect.

“So although I can’t go into any specific details now, rest assured that is the case and we’re always trying to push the boundaries. So watch this space.”

Warner Bros. has already announced two LEGO titles for release later this year, including June’s LEGO Jurassic World and autumn’s LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.

UPDATE 20/03: The game is being developed under the working title ‘LEGO Dimensions’, VideoGamer.com understands.
