Lara Croft is currently gearing up for her video game reboot, but that’s not the only place fans will be able to see the sexy archaeologist. GK Films announced it has acquired the feature film rights to Square Enix’s hugely successful video game franchise.
Graham King hopes to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise with a pic targeted for a 2013 release. King will produce alongside Tim Headington via their GK Films banner.
“We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon,” King said.
2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003’s Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, both starring Angelina Jolie, have combined to gross $432 million worldwide.
GK Films produced The Town, The Tourist and new animated flick Rango.
