It’s not like the PSP needs any more racers at the moment, but Konami has scheduled Street Supremacy from Genki (Tokyo Xtreme Racer series) for release in March 2006. The game is a team-based racer with players taking part in ‘five against five’ knockout tournaments. The game’s ‘Team Battle’ mode divides the game map into fifteen areas, with the goal to dominate the map. Battles in each area are split into individual races, with points awarded for victory. Although working in teams, rivalry between team mates is encouraged, with the winning racers seeing rank improvements.

There is also a wireless multiplayer mode available, although the limit of one-on-one racing is somewhat behind the times. The game features realistically recreated Nissans, Mitsubishis and Subarus which can all be enhanced with new exhausts, engine upgrades and body kits. Of course, there will also be some pimping options to trick out your ride with neons and phat graphics.

Street Supremacy might be worth checking out next year, but don’t expect anything earth shattering.
