Speaking to Kotaku Japan at TGS last week, Hideo Kojima was quizzed on the subject of remaking the original Metal Gear – released back in 1987 for the MSX2 and NES.

While a remake is a project Kojima himself explained he has no time for, the famed video game creator believes there’s no reason it couldn’t be handled by someone else.

“It doesn’t have to be me who makes it,” Kojima told Kotaku. “I made it a long time ago. It could be somebody young that maybe has more abilities than I do….It would even be good if a foreign production team even did it.”

Silicon Knights was behind Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, the GameCube remake of the original PlayStation Metal Gear Solid title, so Kojima’s not suggesting anything we haven’t seen before.
