Combining all three titles to date, more than 10 million copies of Square-Enix’s innovative Kingdom Hearts franchise have already been shipped across the globe.

Not that they want to boast or anything, but the developer and publisher Buena Vista Games have posted impressive figures for the original title and its sequel, along with GBA outing Chain of Memories. Kingdom Hearts II alone shipped over 1.1 million in Japan, 1.7 million in North America and 700,000 in Europe and other PAL territories.

“When we first started developing Kingdom Hearts, we never imagined we would pass the 10 million mark so quickly,” enthused series producer Shinji Hashimoto. “We are delighted and extremely grateful for the support from our fans around the globe.”.

Fortunately for devotees, the action RPG series – which combines characters and locales from both the Square-Enix and Disney universes – isn’t done yet and Hashimoto is determined the next game will keep fans just as happy. He added: “We hope to continue to provide games which fulfill your anticipation in the future.”
