Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, the Nintendo DS follow-up to Kingdom Hearts II, will be released in Europe and other PAL territories on January 14, 2011, Square Enix has confirmed.

Jiminy Cricket is looking over the journal he used to document his first adventure with Sora when he discovers a mysterious message. He didn’t write it – so how did it get there? King Mickey is determined to find out, so he and his friends decide to digitise the journal and delve into its deepest secrets. Inside dwells a second Sora who is about to embark on a grand adventure of his very own.

The game is set after the conclusion of Kingdom Hearts II and features a new adventure in which players will revisit events and characters from previous Kingdom Hearts games.

Players will be able to create their own custom avatar by collecting components from cleared areas. It will also be possible to swap floor maps and avatars with other players and to create dungeons by collecting maps via Tag Mode.
