Those picking up PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall can look forward to all multiplayer map DLC being released free of charge, Guerrilla has confirmed.

In a new blog post relating to the game’s multiplayer, the developer made the following note regarding post-launch support.

“We aim to keep the post-launch multiplayer experience fresh through the frequent release of paid DLC expansion packs that offer new gameplay and customization features. At the same time, all DLC multiplayer maps will be released free of charge to prevent the player base from becoming fractured.”

The blog post also confirmed that most the player mechanics available in single-player will be made available in multiplayer too, including the cover system, sliding mechanic and melee combat system.

Multiplayer will feature 22 different weapons, all open to use from the off, including the StA-55 assault rifle, the VC-15 shotgun pistol, the M55 assault rifle and the VC-30 shotgun. Supporting these weapons are 19 attachments, unlocked by completing specific challenges. These range from enhanced scopes to new ammo types to secondary fire options.

Multiplayer characters will fall into one of three distinct classes, with each able to be enhanced by two – from a selection of 12 – unique special abilities available.

There’s also confirmation that Warzones returns, now with a host of new customisation features. Four of the included eight modes are new to the Killzone franchise.

Finally there’s Combat Honors, which can be activated to offer temporary bonuses until your play session ends.

Killzone: Shadow Fall will be released in the UK on November 29 alongside the PS4.
