Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the launch of the Killzone 2 webgame, a downloadable web browser plug-in which transforms the user’s internet browsing experience into an interactive battle against the Helghast.

Register at killzonewebgame.com, install a plug-in for your browser and than then be prepared for the Helghast attack. Visit a website on which the Helghast are waiting and you’ll need to engage them in battle. Your cursor becomes a crosshair and the browser the battlefield. Earn multipliers, take head-shots and shoot the explosive devices, and if you miss your target the rounds will tear chunks out of the page behind them.

The game will also allow friends to join up to form a squad of four and battle the Helghast together – if a comrade takes a hit you’ll also be able to heal him.

The plug-in is available for both Firefox (v3) and Internet Explorer (6 & 7).

Killzone 2 will be in stores only for PS3 on February 27.
