Kid Icarus Uprising for Nintendo 3DS will ship with a special stand when released in Japan, Project Sora head Masahiro Sakurai has revealed on Twitter.

The stand will make it easier to keep the system and its 3D screen steady when playing. Sakurai also explained that the stand is compatible with all 3DS games.

The 3DS stand isn’t the only peripheral compatible with the 3DS, with Sakurai revealing that the Nintendo 3DS Circle Pad Pro will be utilised to enable left handed mode.

Kid Icarus Uprising will be released in March in the UK.

Playing a handheld game on a stand seems to defeat the purpose of the device, but if it’s being given away free we’re not complaining. We’re checking with Nintendo UK to see if the stand will also be released over here.

Given the 3D effect’s reliance on keeping the screen steady a stand isn’t an altogether awful idea, but surely it has to make playing the game a little more awkward.
