Bulkhead Interactive has been hard at work on its World War II flavoured multiplayer FPS Battalion 1944 for a while now, after securing a Square Enix Collective publishing deal back in March. Finally, the developer is about to break its silence, promising a new gameplay trailer in January.

In a video posted to their channel, members of the development team can be seen talking about their hopes to make a classic WWII shooter in the style of the first Call of Duty games, and the hardships they’ve faced along the way, including Studio Lead Joe Brammer’s tragic loss of his newborn daughter.

In the accompanying update on the game’s Kickstarter page, the team has announced the first gameplay trailer will land on January 9 and the game will head into Early Access on Steam not long after. Battalion 1944 is eventually set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
