Ghost Story Games is seeking a cinematic narrative scripter for its latest venture, described to be a ‘creatively ambitious project in the immersive sim genre.’ (via OnlySP).

Ghost Story Games was previously Irrational Games, the studio behind two of the BioShock games, Freedom Force, SWAT 4, and System Shock 2. It was founded by three former employees of Thief developer Looking Glass Studios: Ken Levine, Jonathan Chey, and Robert Fermier. Levine was integral to the development and success of BioShock, and though the company passed on BioShock 2, he was the creative director and lead writer on BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea.

As Ghost Story Games, the studio will be ‘dedicated to making immersive story driven games for gamers that like a challenge.’ This particular project has been in the early stages of production since 2017, but good things come to those who wait, or so I have been told. The developer is currently looking for a cinematic narrative scripter who would produce ‘systemic and scripted narrative events’ for an ‘immersive sim.’

It sounds like BioShock but it most certainly is not. ‘No, we are not working on a BioShock Game,’ Ghost Story Games’ FAQs stated flatly, but it’s likely that the new game will implement themes and concepts toyed with by BioShock and System Shock. Levine wants to do ‘narrative Lego’ which means… something. He related the term to a potential game that would be built from only a few blocks but would offer up differing and branching paths for multiple playthroughs.

This job opportunity serves as a reminder that Ghost Story Games is chugging along on its new game, though it will be some time before we hear anything concrete about the project.
