Polish studio Tate Multimedia has announced that a brand new Kao the Kangaroo game will be heading to consoles and PC this summer.

A brief history lesson, then. Kao the Kangaroo first debuted on the Sega Dreamcast all the way back in the year 2000. One of a number of anthropomorphic animal mascot starring 3D platformers of the time, Kao nevertheless did well enough to get a sequel on PS2, GameCube and Xbox a couple of years later. That’d also get a remake in 2005 on PSP in the form of Kao Challengers. Later that same year would see the release of PC exclusive Kao: Mystery of the Volcano, but all’s been quiet from the marsupial since.

Until now, that is. The new game, currently entitled simply Kao the Kangaroo, will see the hero don his magical boxing gloves once more. He’ll be travelling a host of diverse worlds, which we’re told will be packed with secrets. There’ll be family friendly gameplay , an engaging story and challenging combat with unique boss battles too. And of course, a whole bunch of collectibles too.

You can check out a trailer for the game for yourself down below. Kao the Kangaroo is currently pencilled in for a release this Summer. Expect to see him on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
