Twitch superstar Kai Cenat recently conducted a giveaway in New York’s Union Square Park on August 4th, prompting thousands of unruly fans to gather in the hopes of acquiring a gaming console for free. Unfortunately, the content creator’s horde of diehard followers ended up causing mayhem as reports of vandalism and assault ran rampant throughout the course of the short-lived event.

Cenat had previously announced his intention to host the now notorious meet-up through a stream wherein he planned to give out PCs and PS5s along with different peripherals like microphones, keyboards, webcams, and more. Of course, with the streamer already having a sizable following, the planned event immediately began spreading through different social media sites like wildfire, which eventually led to thousands of people descending upon the specified location.

Naturally, the huge crowd that had gathered became restless and began causing damage to several vehicles and various pieces of public property. Cenat even displayed a few scenes of the tumultous giveaway through his official Twitch account, though the livestream was immediately cut short as the chaotic mob eventually became too much for the content creator’s security team to handle.

Fans of the streamer that didn’t get the chance to join in on the mayhem-filled festivities, however, were seemingly thankful as a TikTok user named nev said: “It’s so crowded, I’m glad I didn’t go,” while another commenter named Prince Richardson noted: “I wanted to go so bad to meet Kai but God stopped me from going and [I’m] so glad [because] it’s a riot out there.”

Kai Cenat has since been taken into custody following the giveaway, but not before going on his official Instagram account to post the following message: “I love you guys to the fullest you guys are amazing. THE LOVE FROM HOME BASE IS REAL. Please be safe.”
