Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2 has become the best selling third-party Wii game ever, an accolade previously held by Mario and Sonic at the Olympics.

While there aren’t exact figures to compliment the news, Ubisoft has revealed that the series as a whole – which includes both games in the main series, and Just Dance Kids – has sold over 14 million units.

“Ubisoft is incredibly proud of the monumental success Just Dance 2 has had the past nine months,” said Ubisoft’s North American president Laurent Detoc. “The game’s outstanding performance solidifies the Just Dance brand as a pop culture phenomenon.”

In his Just Dance 2 review, Martin said: “In the face of technologically-superior Dance Central, perhaps, Just Dance 2 might look at little limited – but it certainly helps that you’ll be having fun without spending over a hundred quid on the camera.”

Just Dance 3 is scheduled for release in October. The third entry in the series will not only launch on Wii, but Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 too, with Kinect and Move support respectively.
