According to sales data released by the NPD Group, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was the top-selling platform in the US for the July period (July 4 through July 31, 2010).
Driven by the new slim 250GB model, the Xbox 360 sold 443,500 units over the four week period, beating even the Nintendo DS which managed 398,400 units.
“Xbox 360 was the top-selling hardware platform for the month, driven by sales of the new slim format SKU. It’s the first time since September ’07 (Halo 3 launch) that the 360 was the top-selling hardware platform,” commented NPD’s Anita Frazier.
The PS3 moved 214,500 units – less than half that of the Xbox 360 – while the Wii didn’t perform much better at 253,900 units. Sony’s PSP continues to bring up the rear with only 84,000 units sold.
