Microsoft has confirmed that free-to-play Xbox LIVE Arcade racing title Joy Ride will be released this year. The game was originally intended for release late in 2009, but slipped off the radar following its unveiling at E3 2009.
“We’re thrilled to have unveiled Joy Ride at E3 2009, which will deliver a revolutionary gaming experience to the Xbox 360 community and put your Avatar behind the wheel,” read a Microsoft statement. “We’re committed to delivering the most robust experience to the community and are taking additional time to ensure we provide the best experience possible. We’re looking forward to launching Joy Ride in 2010. Stay tuned!”
Joy Ride certainly looked like a promising concept, with its free-to-play core supported through in-game micro-transactions. Expect to hear more about the game in the coming months.
