Journey, the artsy adventure from Jenova Chen, will go into private beta next week, thatgamecompany has revealed.

The rumours were confirmed yesterday by the developer on Twitter. The tweet refers to the beta as ‘very limited’, so anybody hoping to get involved is advised to check thatgamecompany’s Facebook page – as well as the PlayStation Blog – for updates tomorrow.

Journey is the next game from Jenova Chen, the brain behind fl0w and Flower. It follows a robed figure on a journey across a vast desert, heading towards a mountain looming in the distance. On the way, players will meet others in the midst of the same journey, and while the pair can assist one another in a co-op like fashion – they cannot communicate in the traditional sense.

The intricacies of how co-op play will work – and indeed what’s waiting at the mountain – have yet to be revealed, but when Emily saw the game back in February, she was impressed nonetheless.

Journey is available for download on PSN later this year.
