Nintendo has confirmed a May 21 release date for Jam with the Band for Nintendo DS and revealed some of the songs that will be included.

By using Jam with the Band, DS players will be able to transform their handheld into a portable music make and get creative with friends.

Program your own versions of famous songs and share them with other players, or jam to a collection of popular songs from a constantly expanding song list - 50 will be included with the shipped game and around 50 more will be available to download via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Jam with the Band allows players to program their own tracks in the game's song editor using up to eight different parts on each track from a collection of more than 50 instruments; or create some simple melodies by humming into the Nintendo DS in-built Microphone.

Users are also able to upload their own versions of tracks which can be downloaded by other users. In addition, a dedicated website will showcase the most popular tracks available.

Multiplayer jamming will be made easy with just one copy of the game able to support up to eight people.

You'll also be able to connect your Nintendo DS or Nintendo DSi to your Wii console and send the sounds from your Nintendo DS to the speakers of your TV. A free Jam with the Band Live channel for Wii can be downloaded, meaning you and up to seven friends can enjoy the whole sound of the band from one set of speakers.
