Kotaku reports that former Team Ninja head, Tomonobu Itagaki, was fired from Tecmo on June 18, only weeks before the Ninja Gaiden creator was scheduled to resign from the company.

It had previously been understood that Itagaki left Tecmo on July 1, but a statement released by Itagaki claims he was fired and as such has increased his damages claim against Tecmo from $1.38 million to $1.53 million. The increase takes into account the missed summer bonus payment Itagaki feels he was entitled to had he not been fired.

Itagaki also noted that no reason was given for his termination.
