Behind the excitement, however, lies a bit of skepticism about its actual compatibility with a few specific consoles. Since some users are yet to upgrade to current gen platforms, a large portion of the player base are wondering if the game will only be available on next-gen systems. Well, have no fear because we’re here to give you the answer you’ve been searching for.

Here’s what we know about Diablo 4’s previous and next gen console availability.

Will Diablo 4 be next-gen only?

The good news is that Diablo 4 will not be exclusive to next-gen consoles. This means that players who are yet to upgrade will still be able to enjoy the highly anticipated fourth installment in the storied Blizzard franchise.

Those looking to play the game will be able to do so on a variety of gaming platforms. This includes the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the PC. Unfortunately, Nintendo players may have to wait a bit longer as the Switch has been left out of the list of compatible systems. Based on the release strategy of Diablo 3, however, it may eventually make its way to the beloved handheld console at some point.

The game’s release on a wide variety of platforms is also made better by the fact that Diablo 4 will also support crossplay. With this in mind, you won’t have to worry about getting the game on the same system as your friends as you’ll be able to join each other no matter what console you’re playing on.
