The Last Guardian is still in development, but if it does get cancelled, there’ll be an announcement, Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has said.

“It exists. The team is working hard on it,” Yoshida told Polygon, “I was heartbroken when some article came out on some major site saying it was cancelled.”

Yoshida affirms that, should any title be cancelled, the company will say as such.

“I will say this,” he adds, “When we cancel a title and it is something we have announced already, we’ll say so.

“It’s a highly anticipated title, we have to do so.”

The Last Guardian was a no-show at this year’s E3, so if it is to come out, you’d hope that Studio Japan will have something to show sooner rather than later – especially for a title that’s been in development for nearly a decade.
