Speaking to Shacknews, id Software president John Carmack revealed the developer has turned down ‘good money’ offers to create a Quake MMO.
Carmack noted that “id has no interest in MMO development” and that while he is familiar with the technology required he is also fully aware of the challenges and high risk when entering the genre.
It’s not known whether the proposed Quake MMOs were to be FPS based or more traditional MMORPG affairs set within the Quake universe.
