His appointment comes alongside the announcement that the developer plans to open a second UK studio, joining its current Sheffield studio and art studio in India.

Further details on Sumo’s plans for the new studio “will be released in the coming months”, the site says.

The company has also hired Codemasters’ former executive producer Kats Sato as its new development director. Sato worked at Codemasters for 8 years, having previously served stints at Atari, SEGA of Japan and SEGA Europe.

Sumo is currently collaborating with Reagent Games on Xbox One exclusive Crackdown 3, and helped develop Disney Infinity 3.0 and Forza Horizon 2. It previously developed multiple projects for SEGA, including Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, Virtua Tennis 2009 and Outrun Online Arcade.

It has yet to announce its next full project.
