Bloomberg is reporting that Activision Blizzard is poised to cut hundreds of jobs at the Call of Duty publisher ahead of its quarterly earnings call this week, according to 'people familiar with the matter' who wish to remain anonymous.
The decision is apparently the result of plans to restructure the company to 'centralise functions and boost profits,' with details set to drop ahead of the call tomorrow. Furthermore, a separate report on Kotaku says that some staff think 'they're pretty sure they're safe,' although 'others say they fear they will no longer have their jobs next week.'
According to reports, the cuts will largely affect staff within marketing, publishing, and sales sectors as opposed to game development teams.
Activision hasn't had the smoothest of beginnings to 2019. The publishing giant confirmed last month that it had parted ways with Bungie, prematurely ending its 10-year-plan to support its sci-fi shooter Destiny.
In addition, Spencer Neumann, Activision Blizzard's CFO, departed the company late last year to join Netflix, while Mike Morhaime left a few months back.
