Activision Blizzard has confirmed that it terminated the contract of its chief financial officer, Spencer Neumann, as of December 31, 2018.

Writing in a statement, the publishing behemoth, which distributes multi-million selling franchises such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, said it pulled the plug on Neumann's contact 'for cause unrelated to the Company's financial reporting or disclosure controls and procedures.'

The company further added that Neumann is on paid leave, and now has the opportunity to 'demonstrate why cause does not exist to terminate his employment or why termination of his employment is not otherwise justified.'

According to a report on Reuters however, Neumann is now set to join Netflix at some point early this year, with an official announcement expected soon.

Dennis Durkin, Activision's chief corporate officer, is taking over from Neumann in the interim, although he will assume the role of CFO should Neumann depart the video game giant.

Neumann was previously the CFO of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, and joined Activision in May 2017.
