According to Japanese video game sales figures compiled by Media Create, Metal Gear Solid 4 has been knocked off the top of the chart by Namco Bandai’s Super Robot Wars for PSP. The handheld title sold 102,000 units during its debut week, compared to only 68,000 units for MGS4 on its second week.
Second week sales of MGS4 were, however, enough to see the game surpass the half a million mark. The best of the other new entries included Nintendo’s Super Mario Stadium Family Baseball for Wii which sold a solid 58,000 units.
The decline in sales of MGS4 is also reflected in the drop in sales for the PlayStation 3. Having topped the chart last week with sales over 70,000 units, the console has dropped to only 20,336 for the week ending June 22.
The PSP is once again the top-selling hardware with 59,351 units. This is followed by the Wii (41,037), DS (36,599), PS2 (6,346) and the Xbox 360 (2,555).
